Led by Professor Daniel Linna of Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, this 1.5‑day program gives participants the AI literacy and practical skills needed to responsibly integrate artificial intelligence into the everyday legal work of a typical state attorney general’s office. The curriculum builds a clear understanding of modern AI systems—including generative and agentic models—how they function, and where their strengths, limitations, and risks show up in legal settings. Participants will also work through a structured approach to developing governance frameworks tailored to AG office responsibilities, covering risk assessment, procurement considerations, transparency expectations, bias mitigation, and ethical guardrails.
Through lectures, group discussions, and hands‑on exercises, attendees will:
- Gain a shared vocabulary,
- Establish a grounded understanding of AI capabilities in legal contexts,
- Develop practical strategies for adopting or creating AI legal tools, and
- Learn how to build a responsible AI culture within attorneys general offices that both mitigates risks and maximizes the benefits of AI.
